Blue Topaz Ring – New Design

Topaz is a chameleon of a stone, with a myriad of different colors and uses in jewelry. Topaz without any impurities is actually clear – however, the added minerals that cause a blue or pink color are actually more sought after than the clear variety. It is usually wine yellow or straw colored when found in nature, but when found in stylish and sexy jewelry, it is usually much brighter! Topaz is quite hard, coming in at 8 out of 10 on the Mohs scale – diamond is 10. Clear topazes as big as boulders, weighing hundreds of pounds, have been found in Brazil, and the blue topaz is the state gem of Texas, with a signature ‘Lone Star’ cut which shows a star in the center of the gem. Topazes are fragile, and need to be handled with care when being cut and set – perhaps like the person you are buying for this November!
