While it might have been embarrassing while you were at school to have a Mum that dressed exactly like your girlfriends did (whether you are male or female!), as you’ve grown up you no doubt appreciate her modern, changeable, flexible spirit more and more. If you’re looking for a modern gift, look to the jewellery makers that design specifically for the times – Michael Kors is a great example. This watch is simple and straightforward, but includes modern touches like the faux tortoiseshell band inlays and a leather look face. It has day and date functions, and comes with a two year manufacturers warranty. Great value!

Part of the modern way is for women’s and men’s personalities, roles and tastes to collide and overlap, and no jewellery manufacturer expresses that better than Inori. The bracelet at right is a very youthful design (hopefully like your Mum!), in stainless steel with a PVD coating. It is 5.5cm across, so mostly suitable for dainty wrists, although the opening does give some leeway.
