January’s birthstone - Garnet

For January, the official birthstone is garnet, while the alternate birthstone is rose quartz.

This is actually very handy … obviously not everybody born in the same month will have the same taste in jewelry, so to have two stones that are so opposite in character, look and feel is great. While they aren’t the official birthstone for January (or any month), they are colored very similarly to garnets. Also, these are available in a heart shape, for sentimental and very feminine women, whereas the garnets are available only in round or oval shapes.

The cubic zirconia section also has star sign links – if your friend or loved one is born before the 20th of January, they are a Capricorn (the goat), and if they are born after the 20th, they fall under Aquarius (the fish).
