How Eco-Drive Works
It starts with a simple, yet revolutionary concept: a watch that never needs a battery. Citizen Eco-Drive technology harnesses the power of light - from any natural or artificial light source - and converts it into energy which is stored in an Eco-Drive Energy Cell. It recharges continuously in any kind of light to run foreever.
How it works... Sunlight and any artifical light are absorbed through the crystal and dial. Citizen uses special filters which allow a wide range of dial colors and styles.
A solar cell beneath the dial converts any form of light into electrical energy to power the watch. With regular exposure to light, Eco-Drive continuously recharges itself for a lifetime of use.
Eco-Drive's revolutionary Eco-Drive Energy Cell stores enough energy to power the watch up to an astonishing 5-years (depending on model) even in the dark.
